About The Storehouse

The Storehouse is a community house of prayer and mission base for Madison/Huntsville, Alabama area. The Storehouse is but one expression of the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout the world to renew and equip the church to be keepers of the two greatest commandments: to love God with all our being and to love our neighbors as ourselves [Mark 12:30-31].

Jesus prayed that his followers would be united as one. "May [my disciples] be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me." [John 17:23] It is the heart of the Storehouse ministry to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ and to strengthen local churches.

As demonstrated many times throughout history, a new work of God is initiated through believers who cry out to the Lord day and night [Luke 18:7]. Through music, the prophetic word and prayer, intercessory worshippers seek the face of the Lord and yearn for the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is through this anointing that Christ followers are equipping to live sacrificially and lovingly the life of Jesus in a darkening world.

Area Update from the Care Center

    CARE Center Friends,

What a week! We got our first government grant - more info below. This is a HUGE answered prayer! We are excited and nervous but know this will be an amazing opportunity for the children in the community. Read below for more updates.

God will delight in His people when they obey Him. When the hungry are fed, the poor are cared for, and justice established, He will hear and answer His servants’ prayers; He will guide them and protect them, and they will be a light to the world. This is the vision of God’s people transforming God’s world in God’s way ... This is what Jesus meant when He prayed, 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.' Charity, equity, and mercy are the marks of the kingdom of the Messiah, and Christ wanted it to begin on earth.” Richard Stearns - President World Vision

    Announcements:

    1) Apple iPad - the 8th Annual Golf Tournament and Fundraiser is coming Monday, Oct. 18th at RTJ Highlands Course Hampton Cove. We are offering one free Apple iPad to the person who brings in the most corporate sponsorship dollars above and beyond $5,000. Interested in this? Contact Amy Summers at summersaeb@yahoo.com

    2) NHHS Resource Classes - we are excited to announce that New Hope High School will be trying a new “pilot program” based on the Pisgah High School Model. Pisgah is very similar to NH demographically and tried this innovative approach several years ago with great success. In the 2 years that Pisgah has done this approach, every senior who took the graduation exam passed before graduation. With this approach, third period everyday will be a Resource Class. Three days a week, those that need remediation will get that during this time. Students at NHHS will be able to choose classes like fishing, bow hunting, rock band, golf, Bible class, wildlife observation, coin collecting, Wii/Guitar Hero and more! Students will be able to choose 2 classes/semester to attend and those in remediation will be incentivized to pass b/c they can then be a part of all 5 days of Resource Classes. The CARE Center hopes to be a resource to NHHS in any way we can through this endeavor. Other great news - 2 years ago, NHHS had 28 students that dropped out. Last year they had 13 students. This is a huge step in the right direction! Also- NHHS will also be offering AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP English 11, and AP English 12 next year which will be an extremely valuable opportunity for the students there as they prepare for college.

    3) After School Program - The CARE center is excited and honored to announce that we have been selected as a 21st Century Community Learning Center by the State Department of Education. This is a joint partnership between New Hope Elementary School, Madison County Board of Education, and the CARE Center. The name of the center is The New Hope Community Learning Center (NHCLC). The center will be situated on the New Hope Elementary School Campus. The NHCLC will provide safe, challenging, engaging and fun learning experiences in an afterschool setting designed to help children and youth develop their social, emotional , physical, and academic skills. Stay tuned for more details. If you have questions about this, contact Andrea Bridges at afmbridges@hotmail.com

    4) Meth Forums - mark your calendar! There are 2 upcoming Meth Forums in our community. Panelists will include law enforcement, mental health, and recovery. Tues., Aug. 17th- New Hope High School - 6pm; Tues., Aug. 24th- Madison County Elementary/Middle School- 7pm; For more info- go to our website below and see the flyers under “Hot Topics”

    5) Men Needed - we still need men who can help w/furniture and appliance pick-ups on Tues./Thurs. from 12-4pm. Even if you can just help once/month, that would be a huge blessing. Questions? Contact Tara Furlough at tfurlough@taramfg.com

    6) 3rd Annual I Race Because I C.A.R.E 5K Walk/Run - Coming Sept. 18th! Mark your calendars and plan to participate. Questions? Contact Ashley Turnbull at aoturnbull@gmail.com and go to website below for more info.
