I encourage you to purchase your tickets early. Tickets are $16.00 until March 15, after that date they increase to $22.00. The number to call for additional brochures and information is 256-882-7651 or e-mail to aware@hiwaay.net. Prayer intercessors please contact Carol Baker at bbaker22@bellsouth.net or 256-882-2303.

A Fellowship Meal with the Christian Family

Eating together is the universal gesture of love and acceptance in every culture. The Kingdom of God is no exception. Jesus chose the Hebrew “Seder” meal as His Last Supper to eat with the disciples. Through this unique meal, He demonstrated the lessons of love and unity that He desired in the body of Christ as He said to them at the table: "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another." (John 13:35)

We encourage you to reserve this evening, Tuesday, April 15, 2008, for celebrating Christian unity through the blood of Christ. When Israel left Egypt, it did not matter what tribe (church) they belonged to, it only mattered that the blood of the lamb was applied to their doorpost. The blood of God’s sacrificed lamb makes us one! [The evening banquet will be traditional, not a Seder meal.]

Everyone Welcome

Join believers from many streams of the Christian faith in celebrating together at this event of Holy Week. A dramatic demonstration of Christ in the Hebrew Seder (Passover) meal will be presented.

The Passover Prayer and Theme

It was during the Passover week that Jesus prayed His now famous prayer for unity: “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one . . . that the world may believe that You sent Me." (John 17:20-21)

Deliverance and Brotherhood/Unity are key lessons to be learned from the Passover Seder demonstration. That Christ can deliver us from every enslaving condition of mankind and humility is the key to unity! Jesus demonstrated these two lessons by offering the cup of blessing and washing the disciple feet.

A Gift to Bless the City

"And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."
(Genesis 2:15)

We take this commission seriously! At Passover 2009 we choose to bless the city through our Biblical responsibility to cultivate and protect the land upon which the people of this city and region reside. In the middle of this city is the Big Spring, which has historically brought life and beauty to this land — there is an air of Eden about it.

Much credit for the clean and beautiful park and city we enjoy goes to Huntsville’s Green Team. This team is an indigenous group (mostly volunteers) who tirelessly organize details to pick up trash and plant shrubbery. They help protect and steward this land that makes Huntsville one of the top ten cleanest and most beautiful cities for its size in the nation.

Mrs. Joy McKee and the Green Team are in dire need of a new greenhouse to replace the old deteriorating one on Drake Avenue. The greenhouse enables the city to save by cultivating and raising new trees, plants, and flowers which are a blessing to the whole city. The plantings are used for all city parks, streets, highways, city buildings, Research Park, recreational centers, on the square, and downtown. Our offering in 2009 will help the Green Team fulfill their need in response to the commission of Genesis 2:15.

Admission Price

Admission price is $16 per plate, which will go entirely toward expenses. Our desire is for everyone to attend, and so we have developed a sponsorship program through individuals and churches for those who may need assistance to attend. Please call (256) 882-7651 to order your tickets or mail seat requests to P.O. Box 364, Huntsville, AL 35804.

We are confident that you will leave this celebration knowing you have genuinely honored your Lord!

Comments from several Area Pastors!

“I am delighted to enthusiastically endorse the Christ Our Passover celebration. In my opinion this activity has made a significant impact on the Christian community in helping them gain a clearer understanding of the history of the Judeo-Christian roots of the Christian faith. A number of former participants have commented to me how helpful this event has been in enhancing their understanding of the faith.” Rev Dr. John L. Herndon, Fellowship Presbyterian Church (USA)

“The Christ Our Passover celebration affords an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ in the Huntsville area. In the context of the Jewish Passover Feast, participants gather to break bread, worship, and celebrate the prophetic fulfillment of the Passover in our Lord Jesus Christ. This is truly a wonderful gathering.” Pastor Alan Weatherly, Asbury United Methodist Church

“I continue to marvel at the unique contribution the Christ our Passover event brings to our city - and region! It has a way of creatively uniting the Body of Christ while at the same time linking Hebrew and Christian sensitivities and understandings of the world God has created and continues to create! Who knows what ‘new thing’ the Holy One will bring about this year through this most meaningful celebration of unity!” Rev Frank Broyles, Faith Presbyterian Church

“This event is one that crosses the barriers of Church Denominations and allows us to come as one through our Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ. I encourage the Body of Christ, throughout the entire region, to come and ‘keep the feast’ together at the Christ Our Passover celebration.” Pastor Rusty Nelson, Rock Family Worship Center

About The Storehouse

The Storehouse is a prayer and mission base for Madison / Huntsville, Alabama area. The Storehouse is but one expression of the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout the world to renew and equip the church to be keepers of the two greatest commandments: to love God with all our being and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31).

Jesus prayed that his followers would be united as one. "May (my disciples) be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me." (John 17:23) It is the heart of the storehouse ministry to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ to strength local churches.

As demonstrated many times throughout history, a new work of God is initiated through believers who cry out to the Lord day and night (Luke 18:7). Through music, the word and prayer, intercessory worshippers seek the face of the Lord and yearn for the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is through this anointing that Christ followers are equipped to live sacrificial and lovingly the life of Jesus in a darkening world.

“Spiritual Caregiving in Perilous Times”

Tuesday, April 28, 2009
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

(dinner served 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm)

Faith Presbyterian Church
5003 Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, Alabama

Target Audience
This class is designed for lay spiritual caregivers (Stephen Ministers, deacons, ministry team leaders, Sunday School teachers), and helping professionals (counselors, nurses, social workers), but the class is open to anyone interested in improving ministry skills.

Theme and Objectives
Every day the news tells us that we live in uncertain, even perilous, times. Care receivers’ personal spiritual needs are often related to these “big picture” anxieties. In this class participants will learn to:
Think out of a theology of peril and a theology of joy.
Name two scriptural themes that encourage hope in uncertain times.
Utilize one new way of ministering with those who are affected by a sense of peril.
Implement one means of self-care to remain effective as a caregiver when we are experiencing the danger ourselves.

Faculty
The Rev. Dr. Peggy Way, an ordained United Church of Christ minister, has served as a professor of pastoral theology, local church pastor, and director of social welfare agencies. Her current ministry includes preaching, teaching, writing, and counseling.

Continuing Education Units
Hospice Family Care offers, free of charge, 2.3 contact hours for social workers (#0095) and 2.8 contact hours for nurses (ABNP #1122, exp. date 1/11/10, bring your license). The Mental Health Center of Madison County is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors and adheres to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines (NBCC Provider #5745).

Cost and Registration
The cost for the class is $40 (dinner included), but congregational sponsorships (group rates) are available. For more information or to register, call 217-3027 or e-mail hapc_sam@yahoo.com. Please indicate if you will need professional contact hours. The deadline to register is April 24.
