Celebration & Unity Banquet

Christ Our Passover 2009
Brochure
“Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;
therefore let us keep the feast.”
(1 Cor 5:7-8)
A Fellowship Meal with the Christian Family
Eating together is the universal gesture of love and acceptance in every culture. The Kingdom of God is no exception. Jesus chose the Hebrew “Seder” meal as His Last Supper to eat with the disciples. Through this unique meal, He demonstrated the lessons of love and unity that He desired in the body of Christ as He said to them at the table: "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another." (John 13:35)
We encourage you to reserve this evening, Tuesday, April 15, 2008, for celebrating Christian unity through the blood of Christ. When Israel left Egypt, it did not matter what tribe (church) they belonged to, it only mattered that the blood of the lamb was applied to their doorpost. The blood of God’s sacrificed lamb makes us one! [The evening banquet will be traditional, not a Seder meal.]
Everyone Welcome
Join believers from many streams of the Christian faith in celebrating together at this event of Holy Week. A dramatic demonstration of Christ in the Hebrew Seder (Passover) meal will be presented.
The Passover Prayer and Theme
It was during the Passover week that Jesus prayed His now famous prayer for unity: “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one . . . that the world may believe that You sent Me." (John 17:20-21)
Deliverance and Brotherhood/Unity are key lessons to be learned from the Passover Seder demonstration. That Christ can deliver us from every enslaving condition of mankind and humility is the key to unity! Jesus demonstrated these two lessons by offering the cup of blessing and washing the disciple feet.
A Gift to Bless the City
"And the LORD God took the man, and put him into
the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."
(Genesis 2:15)
We take this commission seriously! At Passover 2009 we choose to bless the city through our Biblical responsibility to cultivate and protect the land upon which the people of this city and region reside. In the middle of this city is the Big Spring, which has historically brought life and beauty to this land — there is an air of Eden about it.
Much credit for the clean and beautiful park and city we enjoy goes to Huntsville’s Green Team. This team is an indigenous group (mostly volunteers) who tirelessly organize details to pick up trash and plant shrubbery. They help protect and steward this land that makes Huntsville one of the top ten cleanest and most beautiful cities for its size in the nation.
Mrs. Joy McKee and the Green Team are in dire need of a new greenhouse to replace the old deteriorating one on Drake Avenue. The greenhouse enables the city to save by cultivating and raising new trees, plants, and flowers which are a blessing to the whole city. The plantings are used for all city parks, streets, highways, city buildings, Research Park, recreational centers, on the square, and downtown. Our offering in 2009 will help the Green Team fulfill their need in response to the commission of Genesis 2:15.
Admission Price
Admission price is $16 per plate, which will go entirely toward expenses. Comments from several Area Pastors!
“I am delighted to enthusiastically endorse the Christ Our Passover celebration. In my opinion this activity has made a significant impact on the Christian community in helping them gain a clearer understanding of the history of the Judeo-Christian roots of the Christian faith. A number of former participants have commented to me how helpful this event has been in enhancing their understanding of the faith.” Rev Dr. John L. Herndon, Fellowship Presbyterian Church (USA)
“The Christ Our Passover celebration affords an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ in the Huntsville area. In the context of the Jewish Passover Feast, participants gather to break bread, worship, and celebrate the prophetic fulfillment of the Passover in our Lord Jesus Christ. This is truly a wonderful gathering.” Pastor Alan Weatherly, Asbury United Methodist Church
“I continue to marvel at the unique contribution the Christ our Passover event brings to our city - and region! It has a way of creatively uniting the Body of Christ while at the same time linking Hebrew and Christian sensitivities and understandings of the world God has created and continues to create! Who knows what ‘new thing’ the Holy One will bring about this year through this most meaningful celebration of unity!” Rev Frank Broyles, Faith Presbyterian Church
“This event is one that crosses the barriers of Church Denominations and allows us to come as one through our Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ. I encourage the Body of Christ, throughout the entire region, to come and ‘keep the feast’ together at the Christ Our Passover celebration.” Pastor Rusty Nelson, Rock Family Worship Center

Dear Friends of Serving the City 2009,
We have the promotional DVD ready for all of you - one per church. You may come by First Baptist during office hours and pick one up. Let me know if you plan to pick one up and I will place your name on a copy for you and also it will help me make sure I have enough copies. We also have the STC posters available to pick up if you need those.
The project brochures for signing up are printed and ready. If there are problems picking up either the DVD or the brochures let me know and I will mail them or deliver them to you.
We have two hub sites this year - a new one at Madison First Church of the Nazarene and Lenny Neiman is your contact and again at First Baptist, Huntsville.
For the First Baptist, Huntsville hub you may come by the office Thursday, 8-5 and Friday, 8-1 or any time next week to pick up brochures, posters, and DVD's. Send an email back to me and the number of brochures you would like to have and I will have them ready for you. If you need to contact me my cell phone is 256-655-3423. If you cannot have someone come by during those hours let me know and we can arrange for them to be delivered.

Plan on asking for plenty of brochures to pass out to all your small groups and during your worship times. The sign up times are all the Sundays during the month of March with the deadline to turn in the filled in brochures to your hub site being Monday, March 30th. Ask for twice as many as you need so you don’t run out.
I hope your church will be out that day Serving your city.
