Pastors Prayer Summit - Strategic Focus:
Please note that the Pastors Prayer Summit for the month of November will meet at a special time (11:30am) and location (The Storehouse Community House of Prayer) to enable a time for pastors to meet with a strategic focus including the nation (with the current economic crisis, and long extended election season) and The Storehouse (an emerging 24/7 Community House of Prayer and Missions Base to serve as a resource for the Greater Huntsville Christian Community. It is in its formative stages and is located at 604 Jordan Lane - map - where the old Multicultural Center used to be).

“Spiritual Care of the Depressed”

Target Audience
This class is designed for lay spiritual caregivers (Stephen Ministers, deacons, ministry team leaders, Sunday School teachers), and helping professionals (counselors, nurses, social workers), but the class is open to anyone interested in learning about caring for people with depression.
Theme and Objectives
Many questions arise for spiritual caregivers when their care receivers show signs of depression. This class will enable participants to:
• Name two spiritual issues related to care of the depressed.
• Identify three symptoms of depression.
• Implement one new means of listening deeply to people with depression.
• Recognize two signs that a care receiver needs to be referred to a mental health professional.
• Have on hand the contact information for local mental health professionals.
Faculty
Rev. Carl Malm is a pastor, community leader in chaplaincy, and counselor with the Center for Loss, Grief, and Change.
Kathy Sieja, MA, LPC, is a licensed counselor specializing in depression at The Hearth Psychology & Counseling Center, LLC.
Continuing Education Units
Continuing education credits will be offered free of charge by Hospice Family Care: 4.8 contact hours for nurses ABNP #1122 (expiration date 1/11/2010) and 4 contact hours for social workers #0095. NURSES, PLEASE BRING YOUR LICENSE TO CLASS.
Cost and Registration
The cost for tuition, breakfast, and handouts is $35, but congregational sponsorships (group rates) are available. Area-Wide Night of Prayer for the Nation - The Storehouse (11/3)

A city-wide steering team representing a cross-section of the Christian community was formed to help mobilize prayer for the nation for the 40 days leading up to the 2008 elections. Please see the following opportunity to join with others in the valley for the culmination of these 40 days in a city-wide night of prayer for the nation at 7pm on Monday November 3rd, 2008.

Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at West Mastin Lake Baptist Church.
You are cordially invited to join and participate in this Prayer Service as we pray for women around the world: Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, North America and South West Pacific. Emphasis will be placed on the women of South West Pacific. The theme of the Prayer Service is Seeing With New Eyes GOD’S CARE.

Christmas Prayers Local Community Outreach - Needs/Prayer Requests through November

Thousands of people from right here in The Valley are in desperate need this Christmas. If you or someone you know has a special Christmas Prayer, we want to help.
Christmas Prayers is an annual outreach to the community led by WAY-FM with the help and support of local listeners, churches, and businesses from throughout the Tennessee Valley.
PRAYER REQUESTS • CHARITABLE DONATIONS
Christmas Prayer donations may be made directly toward either Christmas Prayers or the special Christmas with a Cop outreach (which will be matched by local merchants) and occur through Mission Huntsville. All gifts are tax deductible and an end-of-year receipt will be provided.
