Area-Wide Martin Luther King Jr. Emancipation Proclamation
Area Churches Joining in Worship and Celebration
4pm January 13th, 2008
Von Braun Center -- South Hall
Dear Pastor:
As President of The Greater Huntsville Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship (GHIMF), I would like to invite you and your congregation to attend and participate in the Emancipation Proclamation - Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration to be held on January 13th, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. This area-wide worship service will be held at the Von Braun Center-South Hall.
We would be blessed if you would join in the procession of Pastors and Ministers into the Hall at the beginning of the service. Dark attire is to be worn for this event. Your choir is invited to participate in the Area-Wide Celebration Mass Choir under the direction of Dr. Janette Kotey. The choirs are asked to dress in their robes for this occasion. We are asking you to please submit the name of your music director to Dr. Kotey at your earliest convenience. She will then distribute copies of the music to be sung at the service to each choir and the mass choir rehearsal dates prior to the final rehearsals at the Von Braun Center.
We are also requesting contact information for your Youth and Ushers. The youth of each church will be asked to participate in the procession some of which will carry flags or banners. The usher teams from area churches are to serve during the worship service.

Christian Advocates for Israel - Local Community Coalition |
|
 |
|
In a time of growing international hostility toward Israel and the Jewish people - with international leaders publicly calling the holocaust a myth, stating their intent to wipe Israel off the map, and denying any historical Jewish connection to Jerusalem or the Land of Israel - there is a growing desire among many in the Christian community to stand as an advocate for Israel and the Jewish people in this volatile time. A coalition is emerging from the local Christian community with a heart to honor Israel and the Jewish people for the heritage received (Rom 9:4-5), and explore opportunities of practical advocacy (in prayer and intercession, in humanitarian relief, in outreach, in governmental and political advocacy, etc.) in this time when such anti-semitic rhetoric grows louder and bolder.

About The Dwelling Place
OUR MISSION
To be passionately in love with Jesus and committed to living, preaching and demonstrating the Kingdom of God.
OUR VISION
To see every kindred, tongue, people and nation redeemed unto God to become His Dwelling Place.
"Now the dwelling of God is with men and He will live with them."
-- A Loud Voice from the Throne
OUR CORE VALUES
Prayer: God's purposes are accomplished on earth through the intercession of His church. We are to pray for His Kingdom to come and His Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. His House is to be called a House of Prayer.
Worship: Passionate worship allows us to express our love toward God. As we worship Him in Spirit and in truth we encounter an intimate relationship between our heart and His.
Outreach: Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the gospel therefore we participate in and support local and global evangelism.
|
Equipping: Every person has a God given destiny. Unfortunately many people never fulfill that destiny even among believers. It is vital therefore that all believers discover their destiny in Christ and that they are released into it. The present ministry of the Fivefold ministry gifts (i.e. apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) were given to equip and prepare God's people. This is accomplished through teaching, discipleship, activation and impartation.
Family: The most important relationship outside of our personal relationship with God is our relationship with our family. If we are not real in our own house, we are not real anywhere.
Youth: Malachi 4:5-6 states that before the Lord returns that the spirit of Elijah will come to turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers. Joel 2:28 states that in the last days "your sons and daughters will prophesy." God is releasing a prophetic anointing on the youth who desperately need spiritual fathers and mothers to mentor them and cast the mantle.
Unity: Jesus prayed that we would be one just as He and the Father are one. Unity is not conforming to the doctrines, ideas, opinions, etc. of others, but a commitment to walk in covenant relationships with each other, despite our differences. Jesus said that unity would show the world that God sent Him and that God loved them. We believe that God is uniting the Body of Christ to reap a worldwide harvest into His Kingdom.
Giving: God loves a cheerful giver. We believe in the joyful and sacrificial giving of tithes and offerings as an expression of worship to God and as a means to expand His Kingdom.
Faith: It is impossible to please God without faith. We should endeavor to live by faith in God's Word as it pertains to every area of our life (i.e. spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and financially.)

Youth Development Association (YDA) - Stone Middle School
|
|
|
Rev. Al Garrett, founder and Executive Director of YDA, is involved in leadership at Church Street Cumberland Presbyterian
Church, and also
helping with mobilization of the Serving the City as One initiative with area churches. Please see some unique opportunities to impact the lives of our youth!
Youth Development Association, Inc. (YDA) has been providing intervention tutoring in math and reading at Roy L. Stone Middle School in Huntsville since January 2007. Our organization's co-founder and Executive Director is Pastor Al Garrett. YDA has initiated 3 programs at Stone:
1) Intervention Strategies for In-School Suspension
2) Youth Fellowship Breakfast
3) Seeing is Believing - Business/Professional & Community Mentoring & Tutoring
YDA is now conducting a Youth Fellowship Breakfast at Stone Middle School every Tuesday morning from 7:15 to 7:45 am. We are averaging around 30 students each Tuesday. We are seeking donations from the Christian Business Community for our Youth Fellowship Breakfast. We offer each child a sandwich, juice & pastry. The daily cost is $50.00. Our fellowship breakfast has lead to Stone's opening its doors to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and partnering with Madison Academy's sports programs.
YDA is further seeking support for a Community-Wide Children's and Youth Choir. We are targeting children and youth in public housing and the lowest performing schools in Huntsville. We hope not only to affect spiritual matters but to raise academic performance. Working together with local musician and choir directors, YDA began rehearsals in December of 2007. There are more details available on community choir needs and costs.
YDA seeks your interest, involvement and investment in our youth!
For more information or to help, our address is Stone Middle School, ATTN: YDA, Inc., 2620 Clinton Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35805. Make donations out to YDA, INC. Contact Pastor Garrett ( Email) directly at 256.603-0807 or Stone at 256.428-7740.
THANKS
Rev. Al Garrett
Give God and Christ Jesus
glorious praise!

to enable registration to be without cost to those attending. This is a wonderful opportunity hosted by a congregation that has great commitment to both prayer and missions locally and abroad. Please see additional details through the links provided below!
Developing a Heart After God’s Own Heart
Through Prayer and Missions - February 21st-23rd, 2008
Asbury in Madison, Alabama has a new learning opportunity for everyone who desires a heart after God’s own heart, one that overflows in service to the world. There will be a series of workshops and general sessions with inspirational speakers on the topics of prayer and missions within our annual 2008 Global Impact Celebration. Asbury has learned and continues to learn from excellent teachers about the foundational aspects of prayer, and about how the inner heart of prayer expresses itself in an outreach to the least, the last, and the lost of this world. We hope you will join us in this learning experience as we seek to develop a heart after God’s own heart ourselves.
As we have freely received, we will offer this conference, including the learning workshops and the general sessions with renowned speakers, as a gift to those in attendance. Asbury UMC will fund the conference, the speaker’s participation, and pay for the promotion of the conference.

E3 Partners - Equip, Evangelize, Establish (India and Rwanda)
|
|
E3 (www.e3partners.org) is a ministry that partners with local congregations to send mission teams (congregational or regional) to strategic areas in the world. It is a prolific missions and church planting movement that helps resource and mobilize the Body of Chirst to impact lives, villages, peoples , and nations.
Mike and Mary Wagner (www.hisgreatplan.com), based in Huntsville Alabama, coordinate international mission teams for E3 throughout the year with a strategic focus on India and Rwanda. Please see some of the following opportunities available, or contact Mike about possibilities of your congregation partnering with E3 to send teams to these areas of the world.
NOTE: It is very significant to observe that Greater Huntsville is becoming base for a growing number of international Missions and Church Planting ministries, in addition to the strong missions focus present in many local congregations. SELAH!
Strategic Focus: INDIA
INDIA - (details)
January 2008 / November 2008
The Banjara gypsies ask a recurring question to our e3 Partners Ministry teams who go to India again and again: “If Jesus died over 2000 years ago, why have we not heard of Jesus before now? It’s a hard question! And the only answer that is real to these incredible tribes people is that “we’re here now and we’re telling the story.” Join our e3 Partners “thanksgiving team” as we refuse to ignore their cries of despair! Make your response to Jesus who commanded “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” [Matthew 28:19]. Join us and the local Banjara churches in reaching the thousands of villages with an estimated 2,000,000 “unreached Banjara gypsies” in Andhra Pradesh province alone! Become an e3 campaigner resolved to “ follow in His steps by accompanying our Lord to harvest fields that are “white unto the harvest!”
Strategic Focus: RWANDA
RWANDA - (details)
March 2008 / May 2008 / September 2008
Rwanda is experiencing an incredible movement of God, as e3 Partners Ministry working in partnership with the Rwandan church, ministers to equip, evangelize, and establish new churches. Working in a nation ravaged by genocide and AIDS with an estimated 1 million orphans, e3 Rwandan trainers, using resources and training provided by e3 Partners Ministry, are starting 25-75 new churches every single month! The need for new churches is huge in Rwanda. According to DAWN Ministries, over 20,000 new churches are needed in Rwanda by year-end 2010 if there is to be a church within walking distance of every man, woman, and child living in Rwanda! Be an “answered prayer” as we join Robert Mutijima and e3’s faithful ministry partners of Rwanda as laborers in the “harvest fields of Rwanda.” It’s clear that the light of Jesus Christ is shining on Rwanda and its people for the words of Graham Kendrick’s Shine Jesus Shine ring true in Rwanda.
Please join us as we join the Lord of the Harvest in Rwanda!
ATTENTION PASTORS AND MISSION PASTORS!
SPECIAL E3 NORTH ALABAMA PASTORS LUNCHEON
AND MISSIONS CONFERENCE
|
January 7, 2008
Dear Pastor,
Happy New Year! It is with great excitement and anticipation that I write you this letter. I want to personally invite you to IGNITE 2008, a short-term mission’s conference that is being hosted by Friendship Church in Athens on Friday, February 29th from 6-9 pm. This conference will give your church some exciting strategic opportunities for missions. Also, you will hear radical stories of changed lives from “normal” people who have gone on mission with e3 Partners Ministry.
The keynote speaker, Nathan Sheets, who is one of the original creators of the Evangecube, a “gospel sharing tool” with over 3 million distributed around the world, will be sharing about how your church can partner with e3 Partners. You will also hear about specific mission opportunities inRwanda and India from local e3 missionaries. Another key opportunity of interest is how God is using the next generation to reach the world for Jesus Christ through Epic, e3’s Youth Division consisting of high school and college age students.
As a pastor, I understand how valuable your time is and how complex your schedule is on a weekly basis. So as a way for you to see if this is a viable option for you, an informational pastors luncheon will be hosted on Wednesday, January 16th by Summit Crossing Church in Madison from 11:30AM-1PM. George Robinson from e3 Partners Ministry will be our keynote speaker. George will share more of the vision of e3 Partners Ministry and how your church can connect with God’s global purposes. Please make your reservation for the lunch next Wednesday by emailing Angela Marrazzo by Monday, January 14th at angela@hope4rwanda.com or call 256-489-5016.
I would not endorse this IGNITE 2008 Conference if I had not seen the personal change in my own church. We have seen people go all over the world and participate in ministry for the glory of God. The ripple effects have been numerous in our home church. In closing, I implore you to make plans for your church to attend the IGNITE 2008 Conference. I look forward to seeing you next week!
For the Harvest,
Calvin Havens
Senior Pastor
Friendship Church/Athens, AL
P.S. If you can’t attend the pastor’s lunch but want to be a part of the Ignite 2008 Missions Conference, you can register online at www.ignite2008.org.
