Governor's Proclamation - Call to Prayer for Rain (6/30/07 - 7/7/07)

CALL TO PRAYER FOR RAIN

Night Watches of Prayer began across the state of Alabama after the Governor issued a call to prayer on the Alabama Arising Statewide Conference Call in June. Gatherings have started to occur in many locations as regions have come together to worship and petition God for the drought to be broken. Most areas have seen the first fruits of rain (we believe an earnest of what is to come), and now the Governor has issued a proclamation declaring a week of prayer for rain ...

Thursday, June 28 - The Governor of Alabama issued a proclamation declaring June 30th - July 7th as "Days of Prayer for Rain" in Alabama, and he is asking citizens to pray individually and in their houses of worship for rain.

Days of Prayer for Rain
By the Governor of the State of Alabama
A Proclamation

June 28, 2007

WHEREAS, Alabama is suffering from a devastating drought that threatens the livelihood of many of our citizens and reduces the quality of life for all citizens; and

WHEREAS, Alabama’s largest industry, agriculture, is dependent on sufficient rainfall; and

WHEREAS, low stream flows and lake levels are negatively impacting water use, recreation, navigation and power generation; and

WHEREAS, throughout our history, Alabamians have turned in prayer to God to humbly ask for His blessings and to hold us steady during times of difficulty:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Riley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby encourage citizens of Alabama to PRAY daily for RAIN and proclaim June 30 – July 7, 2007 as

Days of Prayer for Rain

in the State of Alabama. During this time, I encourage all Alabamians to pray individually and within their houses of worship for sufficient rain.

Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in the City of Montgomery on the 28th day of June 2007.

Governor Bob Riley

Prayer and Drought Details - U.S. Drought Monitor

DROUGHT DETAILS

"The entire state of Alabama qualifies as SEVERE DROUGHT conditions. Over 40% of the state officially qualified for exceptional drought status (the highest possible rating), with now the driest six-month period on record in 118 years. Alabama is the only part of the entire country that meets the exceptional drought status. Not even the wildfire-ravaged Florida Panhandle has been as dry for as long, according to the National Drought Monitor."

" And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees ...

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times ...

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not ...

And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain." (1 Ki 18:42-45)

On 07.07.07 Christians from across America will gather in Titan Stadium
for a massive solemn assembly to fast and pray... (more)

The Place - "Titan" Stadium

A nation will gather, giants will fall ... through the sling and stone of fasting and prayer ...

Massive, United Fasting and Prayer Can Shift a Nation

On 07.07.07, tens of thousands from across America will gather in Nashville to fast, pray and cry out to God for another Great Awakening!

40 years after the start of the Jesus Movement and 40 years after the rebellion of the Summer of Love, it’s time for a new generation to step forward and return to the Lord and to renew our covenant vows of love with Him.

In the Bible, the word for ‘oath’ literally comes from the word ‘seven’ because they would repeat their vows seven times. 07.07.07 is a divine opportunity to divorce our false loves and remarry the Lord.

2007 is a covenant year for America, the 400th anniversary of the planting of the cross in Virginia. We believe that if the Church will gather to fast and pray, God will visit America in an historic awakening again. (More)

Repentance Walk

What: A silent prayer walk from the Parthenon to LP Field -2.7 miles No signs, no flags, no banners

When: July 7, 2007 – Kicking off the Call Nashville 7am-9am (be sure to arrive early so we can keep on schedule)

Where: Begins at Centennial Park Band Shell next to the Parthenon and marches up Church Street, through the heart of the city and into the stadium

Why: For 40 years our nation has been realing under the influence of the sexual revolution. The fruit has been the disintegrating family unit, divorce skyrocketing, sexual abuse is everywhere, pornography is the norm, and gross perversion, rape and violence ravage our land.

Now is time to reverse the curse and denounce the bondage of the sexual revolution. As we humble ourselves with mass repentance we will stand in the gap for our nation and shift its course from perversion to purity. The Roar of the Righteous will be heard again in our land. (More)

Free Ministers Marriage Retreat - WinShape Retreat and Conference Center

FREE MARRIAGE RETREAT FOR SENIOR PASTOR COUPLES

“Let those who are taught the word share all good things with those who teach.” Galatians 6:6

Quite often, couples in ministry become so involved in “giving to others” that their personal lives are neglected. They miss out on the first part of the biblical principal found in Matthew 10:8, “Freely you have received, freely give.” A Galatians 6:6 Great Commandment retreat is a time of personal renewal and encouragement for ministry couples…a time to “freely receive.”

Galatians 6:6 retreats are held in various locations in the United States and overseas through strategic partnerships with denominations, other ministries, individuals and Great Commandment network churches. The retreat, accommodations, meals and all materials are a gift from co-sponsoring partners.

More than 10,000 ministry couples around the world have participated in these life-changing, marriage-enriching, ministry-impacting retreats!

Christian Women's Job Corps - Bridges Out of Poverty

CWJC

Greetings:

Christian Women’s Job Corps of Madison County, AL is pleased to offer a one-day workshop on August 17, 2007 to professionals who work with those in poverty.

Authentic communication requires people to speak the same language. If your work day involves communicating with people caught in the cycle of generational poverty, do you really know what they are telling you when they answer your questions?  Do they know what you want to know from them?

Genuine change can happen with people when they are able truly to communicate with the people in the places they want to go.

BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY workshop will teach you new skills to be able to increase your listening, thinking, and speaking skills.  Then you are better equipped as you help teach and understand the people you are helping to reach a higher level of their potential than their circumstances might allow.

My experience with BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY instruction opened my eyes to do what I've been doing and has given me greater sensitivity and understanding.  IT WAS A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR ME!

Please forward this invitation to all those you know who would benefit from learning how to more effectively work with those in generational poverty. We look forward to seeing you at the workshop!

Berachah!
Earla Lockhart

"And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the LORD; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day." (2 Chronicles 20:26)

Bridges Out Of Poverty

The Bridges Out Of Poverty seminar gives both the social service provider and the community member key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty. Topics include increasing awareness of the differences in economic cultures, how those differences affect opportunities for success, developing an action plan to improve services to clients and improving retention rates for new hires from poverty. This seminar is based on the book Bridges Out Of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities, a collaboration between Ruby K. Payne, Philip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith. Phil's experience includes developing school based, substance abuse prevention, intervention and student assistance programs, and Terie is an experienced educator and prevention coordinator. This seminar is designed for employers, community organizations, law enforcement, counselors, health care and social service providers.

More information about Ruby Payne is available at: aha! Process

The seminar is scheduled for August 17, 2007 from 9am-5pm at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 600 Governors Drive in Huntsville.

The Declaration of Independence - July 4th, 1776

From the National Archives - Drafted by Thomas Jefferson between June 11 and June 28, 1776, the Declaration of Independence is at once the nation's most cherished symbol of liberty and Jefferson's most enduring monument. Here, in exalted and unforgettable phrases, Jefferson expressed the convictions in the minds and hearts of the American people. The political philosophy of the Declaration was not new; its ideals of individual liberty had already been expressed by John Locke and the Continental philosophers. What Jefferson did was to summarize this philosophy in "self-evident truths" and set forth a list of grievances against the King in order to justify before the world the breaking of ties between the colonies and the mother country. We invite you to read a transcription of the complete text of the Declaration.
