Christ Our Passover 2007
Celebration & Unity Banquet
Von Braun Civic Center - North Hall
Tuesday, April 3rd, 6-9pm
Christ Our Passover 2007 Brochure (PDF)
“Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;
therefore let us keep the feast.” (1 Cor 5:7-8)
A Fellowship Meal with the Christian Family
Eating together is the universal gesture of love and acceptance in every culture. The Kingdom of God is no exception. Jesus chose the Hebrew “Seder” meal as His Last Supper to eat with the disciples. Through this unique meal, He demonstrated the lessons of love and unity that He desired in the body of Christ as He said to them at the table: "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another." (John 13:35)
We encourage you to reserve this evening, Tuesday, April 3, 2007, for celebrating Christian unity through the blood of Christ. When Israel left Egypt, it did not matter what tribe (church) they belonged to, it only mattered that the blood of the lamb was applied to their doorpost. The blood of God’s sacrificed lamb makes us one! [The evening banquet will be traditional, not a Seder meal.]
Everyone Welcome
Join believers from many streams of the Christian faith in celebrating together at this event of Holy Week. A dramatic demonstration of Christ in the Hebrew Seder (Passover) meal will be presented.
The Passover Prayer and Theme
It was during the Passover week that Jesus prayed His now famous prayer for unity: “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one . . . that the world may believe that You sent Me." (John 17:20-21)
Deliverance and Brotherhood/Unity are key lessons to be learned from the Passover Seder demonstration. That Christ can deliver us from every enslaving condition of mankind and humility is the key to unity! Jesus demonstrated these two lessons by offering the cup of blessing and washing the disciple feet.
A Gift to Bless the City
"Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:6-8)
In 2007, this admonition from the Lord will be demonstrated through a citywide offering designated to helping the Downtown Rescue Mission. Dr. Darwin Overholt’s efforts are becoming a model for other cities across the state to follow. Dr. Overholt and his staff are to be commended for their long standing service to our fair city. In 2006 we made our $10,000 contribution to the Huntsville Madison County Library and, more specifically, to the “Ready To Read” program for poor children of the city. In 2005, the blessing was given to the Huntsville Police Department for protective vests.
Admission Price
Admission price is $15 per plate, which will go entirely toward expenses. Our desire is for everyone to attend, and so we have developed a sponsorship program through individuals and churches for those who may need assistance to attend. Please call (256) 882-7651 to order your tickets or mail seat requests to P.O. Box 364, Huntsville, AL 35804.
We are confident that you will leave this celebration knowing you have genuinely honored your Lord!

Comments from several Area Pastors!
“This event is one that crosses the barriers of Church Denominations and allows us to come as one through our Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ. I encourage the Body of Christ, throughout the entire region, to come and ‘keep the feast’ together at the Christ Our Passover celebration.” Pastor Rusty Nelson, Rock Family Worship Center
“I am delighted to enthusiastically endorse the Christ Our Passover celebration. In my opinion this activity has made a significant impact on the Christian community in helping them gain a clearer understanding of the history of the Judeo-Christian roots of the Christian faith. A number of former participants have commented to me how helpful this event has been in enhancing their understanding of the faith” Dr. John L. Herndon. Pastor, Fellowship Presbyterian Church (USA)
“I have personally participated in the Christ Our Passover celebration and it has been an enriching spiritual experience for me. I encourage any and all who can to participate this year, Tuesday, April 3, 2007.” Pastor Garry Jordan, Jackson Way Baptist Church
“I continue to marvel at the unique contribution the Christ our Passover event brings to our city - and region! It has a way of creatively uniting the Body of Christ while at the same time linking Hebrew and Christian sensitivities and understandings of the world God has created and continues to create! Who knows what ‘new thing’ the Holy One will bring about this year through this most meaningful celebration of unity!” Rev Frank Broyles, Faith Presbyterian Church

|

|
|
NCFCA Mission Statement
The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) believes that formal speech and debate can provide a means for home schooled students to learn and exercise analytical and oratorical skills, addressing life issues from a Biblical world view in a manner that glorifies God. To provide these opportunities to home schooled students, NCFCA shall facilitate qualifying tournaments throughout the country and the annual national tournament. (www.ncfca.org)
Southeast Tournament - Huntsville, AL
COMMUNITY JUDGES NEEDED!
Special Invitation from Coordinator:
You be the Judge!
How would you like to be a part of influencing the development of some of our nation’s future leaders just by investing a couple of hours of your time? You will have an exciting opportunity to do just that in Huntsville, Alabama March 22-24, 2007. The first annual NCFCA Region VII Pre-Qualifying Speech and Debate Tournament will be held at Southwood Presbyterian Church located at 1000 Carl T. Jones Drive, Huntsville , AL 35802.
At this tournament, over 100 home schooled students from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee will compete to qualify for the Region VII National Qualifying Tournament to be held in April in Birmingham. NCFCA, the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association, is a speech and debate league for homeschooled students ages 12-19. (See www.ncfca.org for more information.) Our students will compete in two types of debate and eleven speech events. For these competitions, we need many judges from the community.
We'd like to invite you to invest in the lives of these students by judging one or more of these events. We ask for only a three hour commitment per round and promise you it will be time well spent amid your busy schedule. Snacks and beverages will be provided for our judges throughout the day, as well as a light meal for judges who are with us at the breakfast, lunch, and supper hours. The schedule below notes the time judges should arrive for each round.
SE NCFCA Tournament Schedule (PDF)
The times noted in the schedule are the time you need to arrive for your orientation. **The red number in the box is the number of judges needed for that round. **
It is our hope that one of these blocks of time will fit into your schedule. In past state tournaments, judges have been from the local media, court system, state legislature, legal firms, business sector, military and so on. They have been retirees, housewives, store clerks, educators and folks from every walk of life. Few have had experience judging or participating in tournaments such as this. We promise to provide you with sufficient orientation to enable you to make a fair and educated decision in the event(s) you judge. Please consider investing a little of your time to help these young people develop their analytical and oratorical skills.
Contact our Judging Coordinator, Marcia Guyse (uguyse@yahoo.com, 256-355-1542) with the time(s) you wish to judge. And please share this information with your friends, family, and colleagues. It is something you will be glad you did !!! Cell phone for the week of the tournament is 256-318-6464.

About Us
COVENANT is God’s way of connecting. We believe that God connects Himself with His people and His people together for Himself. Our purpose therefore is to connect people of various denominational backgrounds together by the means of using Judeo-Christian (biblical) elements of worship (Eph. 2:14,15). This includes a unique balanced emphasis in teaching our Jewish birthright as Christians, celebrating biblical feast days, and home school education.
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)
Covenant of Peace Vision Statement:
"We are in covenant with God to be ambassadors of peace for Jesus Christ to a troubled world”
|
Covenant of Peace Mission Statement:
"Educate to Liberate!"
Our mission and vision are carried out in three ways:
1. Educational opportunities are the focus of our ministries.
We believe that learning is one of the highest forms of worship, and we support many educational ministries. We actively support teaching opportunities to equip men and women to be mature in any vocation (divine calling). As noted in our articles of faith, we are committed to developing spiritual maturity in the home life of the church members because we believe strong families are a firm basis for a strong church.
2. We teach the church's heritage from a Judeo-Christian viewpoint.
Our mission is to educate believers on the spiritual relevance of the Hebrew matrix from which our Messiah and our Bible came. By doing this, we can better worship Him in spirit and in truth.
3. We are dedicated to preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God.
In the four gospel of the New Testament, Jesus speaks more about the kingdom of God than he does any other subject (more ...)

March 30, 2007 Proclaimed a Day of Prayer for Alabama Students
First Priority of Alabama has authored a proclamation, signed by Governor Bob Riley, naming Friday, March 30, 2007 a “Day of Prayer for Students in Alabama”. Understanding that students face near overwhelming challenges such as peer pressure to abuse drugs and alcohol, negative influences in the media, school violence and gang activities, fear and low self-esteem, Alabamians are encouraged to plan special times of prayer both on and leading up to this special day.
“First Priority is very encouraged by the Governor’s proclamation,” said Rick Hand, Executive Director of First Priority of Alabama. “Our statewide network of parents and youth workers are actively involved in planning and promoting this effort.”
Among the efforts that First Priority staff and volunteers are making to observe the Day of Prayer for Students are promoting red and black lapel ribbons to draw attention to the need. Adults are encouraged to wear them on their lapels and display them from their car antennas. Additionally, First Priority is continuing to promote the “Prayer Zone” and “ePrayer” initiatives. “The ‘Prayer Zone’ is simply a small sticker that parents and concerned adults can place on the inside of their windshield,” explains Rick Hand, “as a reminder that, whenever they drive through a school zone, they should pray for the school. The ‘ePrayer’ is a community-specific weekly email that empowers parents and concerned adults to pray for that community’s specific needs.”
First Priority is offering assistance to churches and individuals to recognize the Day of Prayer for Alabama Students:
Teachers and faculties are meeting outside their school on March 30th before classes to pray for their students, just like students do for See you at the Pole.
Churches are hosting school-hour prayer chains (members praying continuously in their sanctuary during school hours), and/or 24-hour-prayer vigils (members commit to pray for an hour for the entire day of March 30, 2007).
Churches are making ribbons for lapels and car antennas to hand out at church on Sunday, March 25th in promotion of the Day of Prayer. Churches are also printing lawn signs to promote prayer for students.
Churches are encouraging members to least drive by their child’s school on March 30th and say a prayer from their car for all students, teachers and administration, and/or organizing a Prayer Walk around that school.
For information and materials, visit our website at www.GoFirstPriority.com/dayofprayer.htm, email Pray@GoFirstPriority.com, or call 256-828-4835 ext. 230.
Note to news directors/city desks: Rick Hand and other representatives from First Priority of Alabama are available at any time for interviews and background information. Email Rick Hand at Rick@GoFirstPriority.com or call 205-871-8886. If Rick is not available, you may speak with John Harrison or Linda Oliver.

Call to Prayer - Downtown Rescue Mission
|
|
The Downtown Rescue Mission (DRM) is supported by many area congregations and business with a ministry focus including some of the neediest people in our community. From a desire to cooperate with the city (which may request property that includes current DRM facilities through imminent domain), DRM is in need of relocating and/or building ministry facilities to replace those that would be lost. The following Call to Prayer is in regard to this time of transition ...
From: Doc Overholt [doc@downtownrescuemission.org]
Sent: Thursday, March 01, 2007 12:27 PM
Subject: Day of Prayer
CALLING FOR DAY OF PRAYER
We are having a day of prayer at the DRM Chapel on Thursday - March 8th. We will open the Chapel for prayer at 7:00 AM. and will go to 2:00 PM or when the Spirit leads us to stop. Come as you can and go as you must.
We need to pray for God's will for possible relocation of DRM:
To get our hearts where the Lord wants them to be now and throughout the work He has for us to do
To get ourselves where God wants us to be (humble hearts ready to hear what He has to say and then ready to follow where He leads us)
To commit ourselves not to move until we know that it is God's will
To trust Him implicitly for guidance for each step of the journey
To have unity and commitment of DRM Board, Staff, Friends and Community
To know where God wants us to be located
To prepare us for the task that is before us
To build or find facilities that will enhance DRM ministries (To find a new home for DRM men's ministries)
To find and raise the funds to pay for new expansion ( Looking to be debt free on new location)
To find the right people for: consulting, working with the city, architectural work, fundraising, banking, campaigning, construction and etc.

Young Life has been reaching out to kids
in north Alabama for over 36 years ...
Hope For Every Kid!
Young Life is all about two things - Christ & kids. Young Life believes that Jesus Christ is the "Hope for Every Kid". That is why Young Life staff and volunteer leaders go out to schools, practice fields, games, plays, and everywhere else kids hang out. To introduce kids to the only one who offers them hope and real life - Jesus Christ.
Changed Hearts Make Changed Lives!
Have you ever seen somebody whose life was completely turned upside down? What causes lasting change in a person? A changed heart! What has the power to change a heart? God alone! And God calls us to be a part of what He is doing in the lives of kids - changing hearts and lives. A Young Life Volunteer Leader is a person who is called to help Young Life carry out its mission. For more information about becoming a Volunteer Leader click here.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation..." (NIV)
Young Life's mission is to introduce kids to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. When a kid is introduced to Christ, he or she becomes a new creation and they receive a new heart. And as they begin to grow in their faith, kids understand more and more that "All this is from God".
