Marriage Savers Initiative - Community Marriage Covenant!

MCCHM
Marriage Savers Greater Huntsville!

Madison County divorce rate is more than 50% higher than the U.S. average, which is 500 divorces per 1000 marriages. We have 771 divorces per 1000 marriages, a divorce rate of 77.1%. The Marriage Savers (www.marriagesavers.org) strategy has been instituted in over 200 communities in the past 10 years and has significantly enriched marriages and prevented divorces in these communities (see website above for more information).

According to the Heritage Foundation, “A well executed community marriage covenant can save up to 80% of marriages headed for divorce, reconcile more than 50% of separate couples, enable 80% of step families to be successful parents and marriage partners”

The highly successful Marriage Savers Initiative was hosted in the Madison County-Greater Huntsville community February 2-3, 2007. Mike McManus, the founder and director of the Marriage Saver ministry, and his wife lead the day and half training to clergy and other marriage ministries in our area. This event was sponsored by the Madison County Coalition for Healthy Marriages (www.mcchm.org) and was held in conjunction with the signing of a Community Marriage Covenant (CMC) by over 80 local clergy who are joining this area-wide effort to strengthen marriages and reverse the devastating trends of divorce in our community!

    The Madison Baptist Association
    Great Commandment, Great Commission Ministries

    Meet Our Staff

Madison Baptist Association is a sparkling ray in the dawn of the new century. For decades upon decades, years upon years, days upon days, the Association has been about missions. With the dawn of Great Commandment/Great Commission Ministries, the Association is in a position to move with a quicker response and a more directed impact on our county, our state our nation and our world.

The reason for MBA is to serve churches one at a time to find their fullest potential in developing their God-given vision. Great Commandment/Great Commission Ministries, five leadership teams and four standing committees structure us.

When John Long our Director of Missions was asked the question, “What is the mission of the Association? He answered, “Our mission is to serve churches and ministries by enabling them to fulfill effectively the mission of Jesus Christ in ways relevant to our world and appropriate to our diversity.” He continued, “Leadership Teams are to work with the churches and ministries of the association. Each church is vital in reaching our county for Christ. It is the members of the local church who are the key in fulfilling the Great Commission.” We are here to serve, to assist, to partner with churches and ministries through resources, expertise, consultations, and training, to enable churches to the best churches possible.

Youth For Christ - North Alabama

    North Alabama Youth for Christ

In late 2005 Darrell and Cheryl Good started youth metings in their home and quickly affiliated with Youth For Christ (YFC). Both large and small group meetings continued throughout 2006 at various locations. Now a steering committee is being formed to complete the requirements to establish a full Youth For Chirst (YFC) chapter in North Alabama, with Mike Green from the Tusculoosa chapter recently in Huntsville to discuss the details.

If you have interest in the organizational team that is forming locally, or if God has given you a heart for youth ministry and you would like more information on what is emerging in North Alabama, contact information follows:

    Our Vision
As a part of the body of Christ, the vision of Youth for Christ is to see every young person in every people group in every nation have the opportunity to make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and to become part of a local church.

    Our Mission
YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other likeminded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

"It was my privilege to be the first full-time employee of Youth for Christ. After fifty years, Youth for Christ continues to communicate the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to our young people. We all know that the problems confronting today's young people are staggering. I can think of no greater cause than to reach our youth for Christ. Let's save our kids." - Dr. Billy Graham

C.A.R.E. Center - Growing and Transition

The Community Assistance Resource Effort (CARE)
    Center

A life that is truly life is one of joyful service. “If anyone serves ME, he must follow ME. Where I am, there My servant also will be. If anyone serves ME, the Father will honor him.” (John 12:26)

The C.A.R.E Center serves the communities of Eastern Madison County including Big Cove, Berkley, Brownsboro, Gurley, New Hope, Hampton Cove, and Owens Crossroads. It provides a unique opportunity for local churches to join together for a tremendous impact. The CARE Center currently provides food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, baby products, new underwear and socks for children, and school supplies for those requesting help. Limited financial assistance is available for emergency situations.

The CARE Center is in desperate need of more space! We have outgrown our current location at the Boys and Girls Club. We're so thankful for the building we have been able to use but know we need more space. Prayerfully we're looking for someone who wants to donate, lease or sell some land to the CARE Center. Our dream is to provide many more services to our clients like GED classes, adult literacy classes, job training etc. These services would begin to empower our clients to become self-sufficient. Help us with this search!!!

Serving the City as ONE - Initial Interest Meeting

    Serving the City

First Baptist Church and The Rock Family Worship joined together in sponsoring the Christian stage during Big Spring Jam. Out of that relationship has grown an area-wide ministry effort inviting churches through Greater Huntsville to join together and SERVE THE CITY AS ONE! The initiative was announced during Big Spring Jam from the Christian stage, and several interest meetings have occured since then in area congregations.

Excerpt from Serving the City as ONE brochure:

"Serving the City is a one day, multi-church, area-wide effort to serve our community this spring. The impact made on our community for Christ will be wide spread and will touch people at every level.

There will be multiple projects designed so that every person will find something they will enjoy doing. Volunteers work inside around tables; others can repair roofs and houses; others can enjoy face-to-face projects. No matter the skill level, you and your church will find the servant projects just right for you.

Churches will be able to involve everyone in this one day effort. You may choose a project that involves only your members, or choose to work along side other Christian brothers and sisters, hand in hand."
