Global Day of Prayer - Christians United in Prayer for the Nations!
|
|
Africa invites the world ...
10 Days of Fervent Prayer – 1 Day of Global Prayer – 90 Days of Compassion and Outreach
An incredible opportunity is being presented to us (the Christian community of Greater Huntsville) in association with an international effort known as the "Global Day of Prayer" (GDOP) ...
From sunrise in the East to sunset in the West, Christians will fill stadiums across the globe for worship and prayer on Pentecost Sunday, June 4th 2006. The focus includes their cities/communities, their nation/continent, and the nations of the world. Over 200,000,000 Christians are expected to participate, including leadership from 6 continents and over 240 nations, with international broadcasts that will occur from at least one stadium from each time zone.
1.) Mobilize 10 days of 24 hour prayer leading up to Pentecost Sunday (May 25th - June 4th, 2006)
2.) Mobilize a 1 day public stadium event Pentecost Sunday (June 4th, 2006)
3.) Mobilize 90 days to bless the city - mercy and compassion ministry to areas of need (June 5th - Sept 2nd, 2006)
And this to be built on for 5-years (through 2010).
This sprang out of Africa (the "dark" continent becoming a "light" to the nations!), and in the last four years has spread to the entire continent, every nation in Africa participating, and last year leapt internationally to include the world.
Huntsville! Currently many states have GDOP events in planning. Huntsville city leaders have granted the Christian community the use of Joe Davis Stadium! Please plan to join Christians around the world - people of every nation, language, and tongue - as we come together in corporate prayer for our cities, communities, and nations from 3pm-6pm, June 4th 2006, on Pentecost Sunday - the day the church was born ... the day the Great Commission was ignited ...

GDOP - Encouragement From Several Area Pastors and Leaders! |
COGIC Superintendent Terrell Harris, Jr. - "The Global Day of Prayer (GDOP) is an excellent vehicle to bless our city and the surrounding areas, our nation, as well as the nations of the world. I certainly attest to the fact that the timing is right. This is a great opportunity for our religious community to come together with one common cause and goal. It can bring much needed healing to our community of old hurts and give us a much better appreciation of other ministries. Furthermore, this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes! ... The Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) Churches in North Alabama endorse the GDOP and pledge our support ... May God bless you richly is my prayer!"
Pastor Leroy Cole, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church - "The time has come for the Christian Community to put aside its differences and come together to petition the almighty God for guidance. I believe that God will hear our prayer and heal our land."
Pastor Robert Somerville, Covenant of Peace Church - "Corporate prayer at Pentecost can produce for us what it did in the second chapter of Acts, which is anointing for the harvest (Exodus 23:16). Let us make a historic effort in greater Huntsville to be at one place and in one accord!"
Bruce Martin, RENOWN - "I urge you to participate in what God is doing in this worldwide redemptive effort!"
Pastor Greg Anderson, Twickenham Church of Christ - "We have prayed for opportunities to build bridges to sister churches and the community ... God has honored both requests through the Global Day of Prayer."
Student Pastor Chad Rehnburg - "What a God thing. His fingerprints are all over this. I almost can't believe the things I am hearing and seeing. THE CHURCH IN HUNTSVILLE is coming together like never before, and GOD GET'S ALL THE GLORY!"

Ten Day Prayer Guide (PDF) - GDOP Huntsville Flyer (PDF)
The Global Day of Prayer Strategy is three-fold:
10 Days of Fervent Prayer – 1 Day of Global Prayer – 90 Days of Compassion and Outreach
10 Days of Fervent Prayer - Joining Together in One Accord!
The Global Day of Prayer will be preceded by ten days of 24 hour prayer after the example of the disciples who "continued with one accord in prayer" (Acts 1:14). During these ten days (between the ascension of Jesus and the descent of His Holy Spirit on Pentecost) believers will be joining together in prayer night and day, Friday 6 May through Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2005.
1 Day of Global Prayer - Pentecost Sunday ... the day the church was born ... the day the Great Commission was ignited!
From sunrise in the East to sunset in the West, Christians will fill stadiums across the globe for worship and prayer on Pentecost Sunday, May 15th 2005. The focus includes their cities/communities, their nation/continent, and the nations of the world. Over 200,000,000 Christians are expected to participate, including leadership from 6 continents and over 240 nations, with international broadcasts that will occur from at least one stadium from each time zone.
90 Days of Compassion and Outreach - Blessing Our City!
The 90 days following the Global Day of Prayer will include area-wide initiatives of compassion and mercy to areas of community need. This will include four strategic city-wide initiatives in addition to many joint endeavors where multiple churches and organizations come together to focus in an area of shared burden and vision.
GDOP 90 Days of Compassion, Outreach, and Community Service |
The 90 days of compassion and community service to areas of recognized need will include a variety of joint efforts soon to be posted from neighborhood revitalization, food distribution, and specific focus in 2006 including education and the schools.

Safe at Home Huntsville - Training and Preparations

Safe at Home Huntsville!
www.SafeAtHomeHuntsville.com
We would like to take a moment to share an exciting opportunity coming to Huntsville. On July 30th following the 2 p.m. Huntsville Stars game my team and I will be conducting an evangelistic event in cooperation with local area churches. The last Safe at Home event in Huntsville had over 11,000 people in attendance, which was one of the largest crowds in the history of Joe Davis Stadium.
This year we are excited to announce we have a great program for the event. The Huntsville Stars will host the Birmingham Barons. We will have musical guest Nicole C. Mullen and Superchick in concert. During the program I will have the opportunity to share the life changing message of hope in Jesus Christ with those in attendance. We are excited about this opportunity and want you and your church to be involved.
Safe at Home is not just another concert, gathering, or outing. It is an opportunity for evangelistic outreach! We are hoping to fill the stadium that day with those who need to hear the message of Christ, but we need your help. Would you do us the honor of involving your church in this event? Would you place this poster in a prominent place in your building, promote this event from your pulpit, and encourage your people to seize this moment?
Tickets for the game and program that day are only $5. It is our desire that Christians would purchase tickets not only for themselves but also for their friends and family who need to hear about what Christ has done for us. We would hope that you would make tickets available through your church for this event. For more information on how you can be involved please call the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association today at (800) 869-8738 or visit www.safeathomehuntsville.com.
To insure this event is more that just an outing, we have several evenings of Prayer and Counselor Training. All sessions will be led by SDEA Staff. The training schedule is printed on the back of this letter. I hope you can encourage individuals to join us for this important time of preparation for Safe at Home.
Thank you for all you do for the Kingdom and for investing in the body of Christ in Birmingham. We look forward to linking arms with you to impact our city for the glory of God.
Blessings!
Scott Dawson
Prayer and Counselor Training
Safe At Home Counselor Training is a single 90 minute session consisting of two parts that puts “ministry feet” to this outreach event. Part one of the session is practical instruction on how to cultivate personal relationships to invite unchurched friends to attend Safe At Home as a guest. Part two of the session is how to be a counselor at Safe At Home. Counselors meet with and encourage those who respond to the message invitation by Scott Dawson to invite Christ into their lives. Each person will be given a Bible Study and find out what church invited them to Safe At Home. Responding individuals will then be referred to the church that invited them to attend for long term follow up and growth. All locations will be taught by Scott Dawson Staff.

The Madison Baptist Association
Great Commandment, Great Commission Ministries
Meet Our Staff
Madison Baptist Association is a sparkling ray in the dawn of the new century. For decades upon decades, years upon years, days upon days, the Association has been about missions. With the dawn of Great Commandment/Great Commission Ministries, the Association is in a position to move with a quicker response and a more directed impact on our county, our state our nation and our world.
The reason for MBA is to serve churches one at a time to find their fullest potential in developing their God-given vision. Great Commandment/Great Commission Ministries, five leadership teams and four standing committees structure us.
When John Long our Director of Missions was asked the question, “What is the mission of the Association? He answered, “Our mission is to serve churches and ministries by enabling them to fulfill effectively the mission of Jesus Christ in ways relevant to our world and appropriate to our diversity.” He continued, “Leadership Teams are to work with the churches and ministries of the association. Each church is vital in reaching our county for Christ. It is the members of the local church who are the key in fulfilling the Great Commission.” We are here to serve, to assist, to partner with churches and ministries through resources, expertise, consultations, and training, to enable churches to the best churches possible.

Pearlington Trips - Teams and Volunteers |

|
|
When the walls of Jerusalem fell, Nehemiah began to rebuild the walls one brick at a time. The people told him to come down from the wall, that he was wasting his time. He said he could not, he would not come down for he was doing a great thing for the Lord. At times we feel like our efforts in Pearlington, Mississippi are so small when compared to the amount of destruction that has been done by Hurricane Katrina. But when we think of Nehemiah, each supply drive, each mission trip, each plea for help that we make becomes one more brick of hope as we REBUILD PEARLINGTON....one brick at time.
