May the LORD cause His face to shine upon our City and Valley!

Mission: Huntsville - Special Note:
Offline Several Weeks - Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were offline several weeks since late February. The cause included a combination things ... from company closings and lay offs, to outgrowing our capabilities, to new functionality and features being added to the web site, and much more ... ALL of which have now been addressed, and EVERYTHING is even "better than it was before" - the LORD is so faithful!
Due to these things we have been unable to forward the March update until now, and we certainly apologize it is so late in the month. While some of the information included is past, we have left it in the update to both inform and also provide contact information in case helpful.
New Web Site Functionality - There is lots of new Mission: Huntsville web site functionality coming online over the next couple weeks in an effort to provide further free resources to the Christian community. We'll include an update soon on some specific functionality available for you, and appreciate your patience as it is finished up. Thank you! (www.MissionHuntsville.org) |
"GOD be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause Your face to shine upon us ... that Thy way may be known upon earth, and Thy salvation among all the people!" (Ps 67:1-2)
If you know of others who might like to receive area-wide updates for the Christian community of the Greater Huntsville and Tennessee Valley area, please forward this note to them so they may optionally subscribe and provide areas of interest here: subscribe. “Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; therefore let us keep the feast.”
(1 Cor 5:7-8)
Eating together is the universal gesture of love and acceptance in every culture. The Kingdom of God is no exception. Through the blood of Christ we are one. Sitting together at the table of the Lord demonstrates this common-union and oneness. We invite you to participate in a corporate fellowship meal, praise & worship and communion. Believers from many streams of the Christian faith will be celebrating together at this "Christ our Passover." A dramatic demonstration of how Christ is revealed in the Hebrew Seder (Passover) meal will be presented. Honor the deathday of our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He said, “as often as you do it, you do it in remembrance of me.” Since He died on Passover, this day has special communion significance.
2006 THEME: Unity through the blood of the Lamb! Jesus prayed: "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me because of their testimony. My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as You and I are one, Father - that just as you are in Me and I am in You, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent Me." (John 17:20-21) We are all of one blood!
Educate to Liberate
Our Emphasis this year will be on EDUCATION. Dr. Marvin Wilson will be the guest speaker and share with us the greater significance of the Christ Our Passover Celebration in Huntsville. Dr. Marvin Wilson is the Professor and Chairman of Biblical and Theological Studies at Gordon College, Wenham, MA and author of the best selling Hebrew Roots book called "Our Father Abraham - The Jewish Roots of our Christian Faith." He served as an Old Testament translator for the New International Version of the Bible.

RENOWN Pastors Luncheon - March 30th
|
|
Huntsville Association of Pastoral Care (HAPC)
|
PROJECT DIALOGUE
A collaborative program for all who serve
in the healing and helping fields
Wednesday, March 29, 12:00 - 1:15
Faith Presbyterian Church (5003 Whitesburg Drive)
(S.E. Corner of the Intersection of Carl T. Jones and Whitesburg)
OUR SPRING TOPIC:
Drawing the Line
Resolving Ethical Conflicts in Emotional and Spiritual Care-giving
Ethics is the subject of much public debate, including recent allegations and indictments of maj or pubic figures. In the world of the healing and helping professions, understanding and applying ethics can become a challenge for the care-provider on several levels, including value issues that arise in client, patient, or parishioner care. There are times when the care-provider must "draw a line." When and how is the line drawn? Under what circumstances? What moral deliberations or codes of ethics become a part of this choice? More specifically, when there is a direct conflict between care-giver and care-receiver, what constitutes crossing the line? When is it ever ethical to breach confidentiality? When does acceptance of ethical and moral differences become compromise? Join us for this time of reflection and seeking common principles and guidelines for decision-making in our own caring setting.
PRESENTERS:
Eidele L. Sainker, Ed. S.; Licensed Professional Counselor, Summit Psychotherapy, PC
Edith Frazier, Ph.D.; Professor, Oakwood College Social Work Department;
Leader in the Madison County Coalition for Healthy Marriages
A spiritual care leader from the field of pastoral care and counseling
Reservations for lunch ($6.00) can be made at 536-9441 by noon on March 28. If you must cancel your reservation, call - even if it is that day!
Project Dialogue is sponsored by the Mental Health Association, the Huntsville Association for Pastoral Care, and the Center for Loss, Grief and Change. It is designed to build bridges of understanding, cultivate community networks and partnerships, and strengthen the referral process with those in healing and helping fields. Project Dialogue has for over 25 years provided individuals and communities relevant topics

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalm 133)

Networking a Community of Faith:
Equipping you as you forge intentional community

We are purposing to connect all demographics, races, Christ-centered denominations, and Biblical efforts in our city, in order that the true sense of koinonia, or community, may be achieved, as set forth by Scripture.
Our main focus will be corporate prayer, with the realization that powerful connections, networks, and efforts will emerge as we seek the Lord together. Times of networking and special events will also be incorporated into our times of fellowship together.

Samaritan's Purse and New Orleans
|

Dear Task Force Members,
I trust you have all had some time to recover from the overwhelming outpouring of support for victims and evacuees from Hurricane Katrina. However, the reality is that recovery work on the Gulf Coast has only just begun, and much more assistance is needed. If your church has not found a way to send work teams to the Gulf Coast, I have an opportunity for you to participate on a team working with Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org) in New Orleans over Spring Break.
Help our brothers and sisters on the Gulf Coast recover from the disaster of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita with Samaritan's Purse. Please join Asbury as we partner with Samaritan's Purse in New Orleans on March 18 through March 25, 2006. Samaritan's Purse is a GREAT organization, and they have reserved space for a team of 15 from Asbury, and we would like to open this trip to anyone from North Alabama who will go with us. We are limited to 15 people, so sign up ASAP if you would like to go. No skills required, men and women and youth 14 years and older are invited. Housing, transportation and food are provided, so there is no out of pocket cost for participants. For details or to sign up: contact Nancy Eckhardt at 457-6676 or email NEckHardt@INFITECH.com or John Bailey at the Asbury Missions Office (837-0365 or John.Bailey@AsburyUMC.ws) .
Yours in Christ, Bob Slone
