Global Day of Prayer - Christians United in Prayer for the Nations!
|
|
|
Here is a quick update, as now the 90 Days of Compassion and Outreach will soon begin!
This Year - Only the SEED! People have been very excited that this was only the first year and hearts are stirring with possibilities for so much in the years ahead. This year was only the "seed" for what is to come!
Optionally reference some video clips from around the nation and world here: http://www.gdopvideo.com/
The Offering to Bless the City! It appears the Compassion Offering will be close to $10,000 and should enable us to feed ~350 familes in targeted neighborhoods in needy areas through the Angel Food Ministries/Manna House!
90 Days of Compassion and Outreach! The Mission Huntsville web site has been updated to include the initial 90 Days of Compassion efforts, contact information, and details. PLEASE consider how you or your congregation may join in these city-wide initiatives!
WE NEED MANY VOLUNTEERS AND HELP FOR THESE DAYS OF COMPASSION! If you have not done so already, please consider providing a point-person or contact person from your congregation for the 90 Days of Compassion here: http://www.missionhuntsville.org/gdp/ninetyday.htm
May the LORD fan the flames of what He has kindled in our city through these relationships and prayers!

The Global Day of Prayer Strategy is three-fold:
10 Days of Fervent Prayer – 1 Day of Global Prayer – 90 Days of Compassion and Outreach
10 Days of Fervent Prayer - Joining Together in One Accord!
The Global Day of Prayer will be preceded by ten days of 24 hour prayer after the example of the disciples who "continued with one accord in prayer" (Acts 1:14). During these ten days (between the ascension of Jesus and the descent of His Holy Spirit on Pentecost) believers will be joining together in prayer night and day, Friday 6 May through Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2005.
1 Day of Global Prayer - Pentecost Sunday ... the day the church was born ... the day the Great Commission was ignited!
From sunrise in the East to sunset in the West, Christians will fill stadiums across the globe for worship and prayer on Pentecost Sunday, May 15th 2005. The focus includes their cities/communities, their nation/continent, and the nations of the world. Over 200,000,000 Christians are expected to participate, including leadership from 6 continents and over 240 nations, with international broadcasts that will occur from at least one stadium from each time zone.
90 Days of Compassion and Outreach - Blessing Our City!
The 90 days following the Global Day of Prayer will include area-wide initiatives of compassion and mercy to areas of community need. This will include four strategic city-wide initiatives in addition to many joint endeavors where multiple churches and organizations come together to focus in an area of shared burden and vision.

90 Days of Compassion and Outreach

|
There will be 90 days of city-wide initiatives of compassion, mercy, and outreach to areas of community need. This will include several city-wide strategic efforts complimented by many joint endeavors among congregations and ministries with a common burden in a specific area of focus.

We are desiring to network the compassion and outreach ministries and leaders in the community. If you or your congregation has an Outreach or Missions Minister or someone who might could be a point-person to network with in area-wide compassion/outreach efforts (now or in the future), please provide us any contact information you know online here.
We would like to post area COMPASSION/OUTREACH efforts from the congregations that could be possible JOINT-EFFORTS during the 90 days of compassion. Please note if you have one(s) where that might be appropriate with any details available online here.

CEF - Child Evangelism Fellowship |
Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) lines up Bible clubs for children, such as Good News Clubs, Party Clubs, 5-Day Clubs and After-School Clubs. CEF invites you to host or hostess an evangelistic club by inviting children, being there, and providing simple snacks (such as cookies, Kool-Aide, or Pop Ice).
In the summer, the clubs are called 5-Day Clubs because they are held for one hour per day, usually Monday through Friday of a week. These are typically in June or July starting at 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 1:00 p.m. CEF invites you to hold a club in your home or to recommend locations for these clubs or to host or hostess a club. Maybe you know a location where children could gather to hear the Good News. Call Susan at 830-6542 to recommend a location for a club or offer to help hold or organize a club. These 5-Day Clubs are taught by trained teens who teach by dramatic, visualized story-telling.
In the fall, the clubs are called Good News Clubs and are held for one hour once a week after school. Moses lessons will be taught in the fall in weekly one-hour Good News Clubs in homes, day-cares, or even after school in school buildings. In the fall, CEF will offer a free weekly training session demonstrating the teaching of these Moses lessons. Susan would like to know who might be interested in teaching or helping with a club in the fall or coming to training in the fall to learn to teach children better. Also, let her know if you are interested in helping establish Good News Clubs in school buildings after school. Her number is 830-6542 (or email Susan R.Stulting).
